If the volume is fine, double-check the menu next to Speakers and see if there's another option to pick from, and then try the sample sound again.
Open the Microsoft alias management page in a browser. The only way to change your Skype password is to sign in to the Microsoft account half of the account using your Skype name to perform the update.
Then, you can log in to Skype using the new email alias with the same Microsoft account password. For that, you’ll have to add that email as an alias to your Microsoft account.
If you don't hear anything when you play the sample sound, make sure your speakers or headphones are turned all the way up (some headphones have physical volume buttons) and that the on-screen settings are at 10. However, you can use an existing email address as a Microsoft account alias to log in to Skype. You should hear sound in your headset or speakers. To check the sound in Skype to make sure that it's using the right speakers, select Test audio under the Speakers option. Finally, unplug the microphone and then reattach it. If there aren't other ones to pick from, make sure the microphone is plugged in, powered on (if it has a power switch), and has batteries (if wireless). If the microphone doesn't work with Skype, select the menu next to Microphone and see if there are any other options you might have the wrong device selected. As you talk, you should see the bar light up. With that setting open, notice the volume area under Microphone.
